Course Overview
This course explores the principles of professionalism in dental practice, examining the ethical, legal, and behavioural expectations of dental professionals. It supports learners in understanding how to demonstrate professionalism across all aspects of practice, including patient care, team working, and professional conduct.
Course Aims
- To define professionalism within the context of UK dental practice.
- To explain the GDC’s nine principles and how they apply in everyday scenarios.
- To enhance professional conduct in areas such as consent, confidentiality, teamwork, CPD, and personal behaviour.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this course, participants should be able to:
- Understand the definition and scope of professionalism in dentistry.
- Recognise the GDC’s nine principles and apply them to clinical and non-clinical situations.
- Communicate effectively and obtain valid consent from patients.
- Maintain confidentiality in line with legal and ethical standards.
- Demonstrate collaborative teamwork and professional leadership.
