Overview
This course provides dental practices with a structured approach to onboarding new staff, ensuring they understand their roles, responsibilities, and the standards expected of them. It focuses on familiarising team members with General Dental Council (GDC) guidance, key practice policies, and legal requirements, while promoting a professional, compliant, and patient-focused workplace from day one.
Aims
- To provide new staff with a consistent, structured introduction to the dental practice.
- To ensure full understanding of the GDC’s Standards for the Dental Team and how these apply to daily practice.
- To promote legal and ethical compliance, including safeguarding, confidentiality, and health and safety.
- To support professional development, confidence, and team integration from day one.
Objectives
By the end of the induction programme, staff should be able to:
- Identify key practice policies and explain how they relate to their role.
- Demonstrate familiarity with GDC principles, including professionalism, communication, and patient care.
- Understand emergency protocols and infection control measures.
- Describe how to handle safeguarding concerns, patient complaints, and confidentiality breaches.
- Actively contribute to a collaborative and respectful team culture.
