Course Overview:
This course provides dental professionals with the knowledge and skills needed to deliver inclusive, accessible, and respectful care to patients with disabilities. Covering legal obligations under the Equality Act 2010 and the GDC’s professional standards, the course explores practical strategies to identify and overcome common barriers to care. Participants will learn how to communicate effectively, modify the clinical environment, and adapt care plans to meet the diverse needs of patients with physical, sensory, intellectual, neurological, and mental health conditions.
Course Aims:
- To raise awareness of the diverse nature of disability in a dental setting.
- To enhance understanding of legal responsibilities and ethical expectations.
- To provide practical tools for improving accessibility, communication, and care quality for patients with disabilities.
