Course Overview
This course provides a comprehensive understanding of the legal, ethical, and professional responsibilities surrounding patient consent in UK dental practice. It explores the various types of consent, including implied, expressed, and informed consent, while highlighting the importance of effective communication and patient capacity. The course also reviews relevant UK legislation, GDC standards, and best interest decisions when dealing with patients lacking capacity. It is designed to enhance professional accountability and ensure compliant, respectful, and patient-centred care.
Aims
- To define and explain the principles and types of consent relevant to dental practice.
